Frensham Common

Frensham Common

This route was recorded on Monday 18 November 2019 during the U3A Amble.
Distance: 3.4 miles (5.5 km) — OS Route Map

It was a bright but rather cold morning as we set off on this amble. We started off quite briskly and, as I was chatting away, I didn’t notice that I had missed my first turn. No harm done: we quickly got back onto the correct path, having only added a short distance to our walk.

The walk took us across Frensham Common and past the bottom of the Devil’s Jumps. We didn’t go to the top of the Jumps but if you do you are rewarded by some fabulous, far reaching, views in all directions. It is well worth the steep climb and would make an excellent extension to the walk.

Parts of this walk can get quite muddy but there are usually ways around the worst of it.  On the map, it looks as if one can get out onto Sandy Lane further down but the path there is private and has a locked gate.

None of these photos were taken during the actual amble but all are from the area covered by the route.
